In the afternoon of July 26, 2016, the VEPR’s Chinese Economic Studies Program (VCES), the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) of the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) organized the Seminar on Chinese Economic and Strategic Research No.13 titled “The ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration between Philippines – China and some impacts”
Speaker of Seminar on Chinese Economic and Strategic Research No. 13 is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam.
Participants of the seminar were experts, leading scholars and researchers in the fields of economics, politics, and diplomacy from many prestigious research institutions, lecturers and students from universities, and reporters from media agencies, etc.
In the beginning, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Duc Dung – President of the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) and Dr. Pham Sy Thanh, Director of VEPR’s Chinese Economy Studies Program gave the opening remarks. Seminar on Chinese Economic and Strategic Research No. 13 is in the series of seminars on Chinese Economic and Strategic Research, which is organized bimonthly with the purpose of opening a forum for international and national researchers to present their research findings, and creating a network for academic exchanges regarding diplomatic, security, social and political issues in relations with China.
After the opening, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh presented her research with the following key points: (1) Basis of formalities of Philippines to sue China; (2) The content and purpose initiated by the Philippines; (3) The content of the PCA ruling on competence; (4) The content of the PCA ruling on the content; (5) Legal impact of the decision.
The discussion drew attention from many experts and scholars.
